Has a canteen feel where people are packed in with no sense of individual service. Serves a good variety of foods and is of good quality for a buffet restaurant. I would suggest here for a quick bite and because of its convenient location on Broad street but it is in no way to be considered a treat or a nice restaurant!
I have only ever been once and won't go again as they have the cheek to add a tip to your bill even though it is a BUFFET!!!!!
Gem of an idea.
Just over a year or so ago, a bar/club/restaurant called Ipanema existed. I have to admit, I was sad to see that go. But very, very pleased with what has been opened in its place.
Around the World in 80 Dishes has a little something for everyone. Chinese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, Indian - and all very good quality for a buffet restaurant.
They take bookings, and it gets very, very busy on Friday and Saturday nights. It is not dirt cheap, at up to £15 per person. It's worth it if you are starving, but if you just want to pick, it may be a waste of money.
Aside from the concept of various cuisines under one roof being brilliant, there is also another twist to this buffet restaurant. The decor is modern, chic and stylish. This isn't your average canteen-style buffet. The improved bar and dance floor area at the front is quickly becoming the place to be on Broad Street and are stylish and lively.
There is a definite buzz about '80 Dishes. May their overnight success be long lived! Try it. You'll love it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
Went to this restaurant and the atmosphere was super. The food was amazing and service was great, only problem we had was that we had leave. But a great place to visit while in Brum
Just writing about my visit to this restaurant on friday night, it was great! We where a party of 20 we greeted lovely hostess who ushered to us a table on balcony. the service was great and drinks where of good standard. But best of all was the food, great variety and flavours. will back soon.
all buffets are not the same some of them try hard such as Beijing Buffetworks.co.uk in Dudley, i suggest you try there next time Ms Kaur!
i went to around the world in 80 dishes to celebrate my moms birthday.... getting there the atmosphere was nice... the presentation looked good, the service was great BUT the food was a big let down!!!! i must say that even with the wide selection of food none of the dishes met requirments.... the food was tasteless and bland the drinks were quite expensive!.... im a big fan of mexican food but the mexican chicken wrap was a sad and pathetic atempt which was dry and had hardly any chicken in it...... after eating there my stomache was feeling giddy and i wasnt the only one.... the food really let down the true potential of the place.... i was not fond of the food so i dont think i will be going there again!!!!
but then anyway... what else can u expect from a buffet!!!

Went to around the world in 80 dishes and believe me it was a waste of time.
Food was below average and the heating was not working. We were not told about the heating until we asked why it was so cold. The staff told us they were taking it in turns to go to the kitchen to warm up.
Following complaints to the venue I have now found out that they are going through managers and I have so far talked to two managers. The first one on the list of managers I have spoken to has since been sacked. No one gets back to complaints and the staff are rude. The fact that they give bad service and they think it is ok. After a phone call to them I am told that if my complaint warrented a reply I would have been contacted by now and that bad reviews will mean nothing as they will just find them and write new ones. It is a shame that they are prepared to write good reviews about themselves rather then fix the problems.
This company are not doing very well in getting a good reputation. When you have somewhere like BIG WOK so close that give top result EVERY time they should sort themselves out.
