Obar

With an investment of £400,000 to transform the once Congress Bar on Broad Street, The O Bar represents a revolutionised transformation. Comprising of decadent interior, plush cocktails and an appetising menu – this venue is (if not already) one of Brum’s fervent hip shaking resort.

Nestled in the warmth of beer guzzlers, cocktail swirlers and wine sippers, The O Bar boasts an array of innovative club nights, two bars and two music styles. Whatever the occasion or reason you wish to venture to Brum’s finest, just be warnedyou’ll be in it for the long haul.

I had the misfortune to visit this establishment about 6 pm on Thursday evening, hoping to get a quick bite to eat before going to a concert at the NIA. In total, but in separate groups, there were about 14 people in there all on the same quest. The menu is extremely limited, and obviously geared to stuff that can be served quickly, which was fine. However, they took over half an hour to deliver 2 portions of fish and chips to us, seemed incapable of delivering cutley, condiments and sauces simultaneously, and at least 6 of the people there had to leave after an hour without having had anything to eat. I have already contacted the establishment direct and await a response!

The O Bar is a cool cocktail bar on Street. Its bright colour scheme of lime greens and purples mimic the cocktails on offer. Clashing this and clashing that and the shinny booths area make this the must upmarket place on the strip by far.

Considering that O bar is pitching itself at the up end of the Birmingham bars market, there is lack of serious wine and spirit options. There are only 4 or 5 of red and white and no exotic vodkas. The bars are what you would expect, though Peroni was a nice surprise. All in all a welcome addition to Birmingham, I hope it survives the chill economic climate.
